Girls on Fire is expanding, and we’re looking for passionate people to help us deliver empowering programs for young people aged 14 to 19.
Right now, we’re recruiting for paid contractor roles to support fire camps and community workshops across NSW, Southeast Queensland, and Victoria:
If you’ve got the skills, care about community, and want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

The roles on offer:
Activities Facilitators

Activities Facilitators help bring our programs to life. You’ll support hands-on workshops that build skills, boost confidence, and introduce young people to the world of fire and emergency services.
You don’t need to be a firefighter, but you should be confident working with groups, have good admin or coordination skills, and ideally hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
You’ll:
- Help run inclusive, trauma-informed activities and workshops
- Support camp logistics, planning, and reporting
- Liaise with partners, mentors, and agencies
- Keep things running smoothly and safely for everyone involved
If you’re a strong communicator with a calm, positive attitude, this could be a great fit.
In-person camp attendance is required; you'll also help with activities on camp day.

Wellbeing Officers

Our Wellbeing Officers play a key role in making our programs safe and supportive for everyone involved. You’ll focus on emotional safety, inclusion, and creating a respectful space for learning and connection.
We’re looking for people with experience in youth work, mental health, social work, or a similar field—especially those with lived experience or knowledge of working with underrepresented groups.
You’ll:
- Support participants, staff, and mentors before, during, and after programs
- Embed trauma-informed, culturally safe approaches into our delivery
- Respond to any wellbeing concerns appropriately
- Connect with local services for referrals and follow-up
- Help build team resilience and wellbeing practices across our camps
This role is central to helping our participants feel heard, supported, and strong.
In-person camp attendance is required; you'll also help with wellbeing on camp days.

Project and Admin Support

Every program needs someone to keep the details on track. This behind-the-scenes role supports our Programs Team with coordination, communication, and day-to-day admin.
We’re looking for someone who’s organised, reliable, and confident managing logistics, bookings, and systems. You’ll help ensure every fire camp runs to plan.
You’ll:
- Manage bookings, schedules, and participant info
- Communicate with families, partners, and volunteers
- Support compliance, documentation, and reporting
- Coordinate supplies, venues, catering, and more
This is a great role for someone who loves bringing structure to fast-paced, purpose-driven work.
You don’t need to attend camp on the day, however, local knowledge and networks is essential to the job.
