Are you in fire and emergency services, working with youth, a previous Girls on Fire graduate or interesting in volunteering at Girls on Fire?
You’ve come to the right place!
Girls on Fire Inc is reliant on fire camp volunteers, youth mentors, general support volunteers and the goodwill of returning campers to make each day at Girls on Fire HQ a successful one.
We recruit a variety of different volunteers to help create a positive and virtual experience for all our Girls on Fire camp and fire training participants.
Girls on Fire is all about developing skills and making connections. As a registered not-for-profit association, we run our programs in line with
the guidelines set down by Volunteering Australia. Our fire camp volunteers also need to abide by agency and/or industry standards
in relation to working directly with youth.
This means we have a minimum expectation of commitment outlined with each role. And each role in return has an agreed standard of recognition and benefit for the volunteer.
All Girls on Fire volunteers receive acknowledgement of their contribution to our programs. This includes:
Volunteers are encouraged to be proactive in seeking new opportunities within the Girls in Fire organisation. As we are in the early stages of our growth, we anticipate new roles will be a part of this growth strategy. As a valued volunteer, you’ll be exposed to opportunities to participate in training and other special projects as they arise.
Camp facilitators are fire camp volunteers who are currently employed or volunteering with a specific frontline emergency agency. Examples of this include state fire and rescue services (e.g., Fire and Rescue NSW), Rural fire services, State Emergency Services (SES), Air Services Australia, Forestry Corporation, National Parks and Wildlife) and disaster specific personnel from defence force or police and rescues services.
