Girls on Fire Australia is proud to announce that Aurora Fisher, a former camper and current volunteer, has been selected to represent Australia at the Global Youth BOSAI Summit 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
Aurora will travel with her guardian and Girls on Fire founder, Bronnie Mackintosh, to take part in this international event, which brings together young people from around the world to share how they’re building safer, stronger, and more disaster-resilient communities.
The Summit will be held on Saturday 17 May 2025 at the TEAM EXPO Pavilion as part of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Aurora will join delegates from Japan, Türkiye, and Taiwan, speak on stage about her experiences with Girls on Fire, and help build an international BOSAI (disaster preparedness) map alongside other young leaders.
“We’re so proud to have Aurora representing us on the world stage,” said Girls on Fire Founder Bronnie Mackintosh. “This is a powerful moment to show how Australian young people are stepping up, learning skills, and helping their communities prepare for emergencies.”
Aurora was chosen through a callout to almost one thousand past Girls on Fire campers. Former participants were also invited to share about their experiences and take part in group interviews about the role they’d like to play in youth-led disaster preparedness in future.
“We believe every story matters,” said Mackintosh. “Even if someone isn’t heading to Japan, there are still so many ways they can stay involved. From volunteering at our fire camps to developing leadership skills in disaster resilience, Girls on Fire believe in youth-led activities are the future of keeping communities safe.”
Girls on Fire continues to empower young women and diversity allies to take on leadership roles and learn life-saving skills. The BOSAI Summit marks a milestone moment in showing how Australian youth can make a difference globally.
