About Us
Our story
Girls on Fire was founded to ignite courage, confidence, and community in young people who are ready to make a difference. What began as a single camp has grown into a national movement connecting young people with fire and emergency services — helping them see that leadership, teamwork, and bravery are skills anyone can learn.
Our vision
We imagine a future where every young person feels capable of leading in their community — where girls and under-represented youth see a place for themselves in emergency services, disaster recovery, and community resilience.
By nurturing courage and inclusion, Girls on Fire is shaping the next generation of leaders who will protect, support, and inspire others.
Our approach
We work alongside fire, rescue, and emergency service professionals to create hands-on learning experiences that build real-world confidence. Our programs are designed to challenge, encourage, and connect young people — especially those who might not otherwise see themselves in these roles.
Our values
- Courage – We take bold action and face challenges with strength and purpose.
- Inclusion – We welcome everyone, embracing diversity as our greatest source of strength.
- Leadership – We grow future leaders by fostering teamwork, respect, and accountability.
- Service – We believe in giving back and building safer, stronger communities.
Our impact
Since launching, Girls on Fire has inspired thousands of young people across Australia to discover their potential. Many graduates go on to volunteer, study, or work in emergency services — carrying forward the confidence and community spirit they found through the program.
