Wagga Wagga, NSW – Girls on Fire, in partnership with Workforce Australia Local Jobs Program and local fire, flood, and emergency services, is thrilled to announce the Fire, Flood & Emergency Services Job Pathways Program – Riverina, taking place at the NSW SES Wagga Wagga Unit in Ashmont on 27th and 28th November 2025.
Generously hosted by the SES Southern Zone HQ at Ashmont, this hands-on program is open to anyone curious about exploring a career in fire and emergency services. Best of all, it’s completely free to participate.
Participants will gain real-world experience and skills across a range of emergency situations, including fire safety, flood management, casualty handling, and road crash rescue. The program also provides opportunities to:
Explore careers you can take anywhere – urban, regional, remote, or coastal.
Experience the wide variety of roles in emergency services by seeing what different agencies have to offer.
Go to work every day knowing you are making a real difference in people’s lives.
Find roles that suit a variety of interests – whether you’re sporty, love science, care about climate and landcare, enjoy helping people, or thrive on variety.
This program isn’t just about skills – it’s about helping adults discover meaningful work, volunteer roles, steady employment, and opportunities for continuous learning.
