We are currently recruiting for paid roles for Western Sydney and the Lower Blue Mountains from September to November 2026.

Girls on Fire Ltd is seeking applications from passionate and community-minded individuals interested in supporting the delivery of our upcoming programs.

These roles are offering an opportunity to contribute your skills and experience while supporting young people through meaningful, hands-on programs.

Our programs provide young people with practical, hands-on experiences in fire and emergency services while building confidence, resilience, leadership, teamwork and awareness of future career and volunteer pathways.

We are seeking support for the following roles:

Mentor

Mentors provide encouragement, guidance and positive role modelling to participants throughout the program. Mentors may:
• Support participants during activities and group sessions
• Encourage participation, confidence and teamwork
• Help create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment
• Share relevant life, career or industry experiences
• Work alongside facilitators and the broader Girls on Fire team

Activity Facilitator

Activity Facilitators help deliver engaging, practical and age-appropriate program activities. Facilitators may:
• Lead or support hands-on activities and demonstrations
• Provide clear instructions and encourage safe participation
• Share relevant professional, technical or community experience
• Assist participants in developing practical skills
• Work closely with emergency service agencies and the Girls on Fire team to support program delivery

Wellbeing Officer

Wellbeing Officers help ensure participants feel safe, supported and included throughout the program. The role may include:
• Providing wellbeing support to participants
• Checking in with participants throughout the program
• Supporting a safe, inclusive and respectful environment
• Identifying and responding appropriately to wellbeing concerns
• Working closely with the Program Lead, mentors and facilitators to support individual participant needs

Program Lead

Program Leads provide on-the-day leadership and coordination to ensure the program is delivered safely, smoothly and in line with Girls on Fire objectives. The role may include:
• Coordinating program activities and schedules
• Supporting and briefing mentors, facilitators, volunteers and agency representatives
• Overseeing participant engagement and program logistics
• Helping manage issues or changes that arise throughout the day
• Ensuring a positive, safe and professional experience for participants and partners
• Acting as a key point of contact between Girls on Fire, participants and collaborating agencies

Locations & Program Period

Opportunities will be available across: Western Sydney & Lower Blue Mountains
Programs will take place between September and November 2026, with specific dates and locations varying depending on the program.

Training

Successful applicants will be required to undertake Girls on Fire training relative to their role.

This training will provide an opportunity to become familiar with Girls on Fire’s programs, expectations, participant support approach, safety requirements and role responsibilities before supporting upcoming programs.
